FAQs

Do you take insurance?

I take Medicaid only. (CCHA plans for residents of Boulder County.) I am not currently approved outside of Boulder County.

I am not paneled with any other insurance. I can supply you with a SuperBill invoice to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement each month. This helps me focus all of my energy on providing the best services to my clients rather than going back and forth with insurance companies.

Do you offer a sliding scale?

The sliding scale spots are full and the waitlist is full. I do not foresee this shifting in 2024.

What exactly is therapy?

To put it simply, therapy (also called psychotherapy or counseling) is the process of meeting with a licensed and credentialed professional on a weekly, ongoing basis to help you become aware of and change deep-rooted and potentially self-sabotaging mental and emotional behaviors, thoughts, and patterns that are keeping you unfulfilled, stuck or in pain.

I only want to come into therapy every other week. Is that something you do?

While I completely understand why someone would want to come to therapy every other week, my suggestion is weekly therapy. Psychotherapy works best within the context of trusting and secure relationship, which takes time to procure. Meeting on a weekly basis is most effective in creating a strong and advantageous container that allows to deepen into the work, ultimately for you to experience the desired changes you long for. Consistent weekly meetings can also lead to quicker results and possibly resulting in a shorter overall the length of therapy.

Is what I share confidential?

Absolutely. What you share in with me in our sessions is completely confidential except in the following circumstances: 1) sharing about imminent danger to yourself or someone else (you plan to kill yourself or kill someone else) 2) if you are discussing child abuse or elder abuse or 3) or if subpoenaed by the court. I will go over this and other policies in our initial meeting.

How long does therapy last? How will I know when I’m done?

The length of treatment is unique to the individual. For some people, six months is sufficient following an acute stressor (like a break up or loss of loved one.) For others, looking to change deeply rooted patterns and ways of being in world, the process can take longer. According to the data, long-term positive outcomes significantly increase at the 3 year mark.

What is your cancellation policy?

As stated in the intake paperwork, my cancellation policy is to notify me of the need to cancel or reschedule by via text, phone call or email with 48 hours of the scheduled appointment to avoid the full fee for the appointment. Sometimes therapy can be challenging and sometimes people don’t want to come, I completely understand that. If you late cancel, then just expect to be charged for the appointment. If you experience a last minute emergency or we experienced inclement weather and are not able to meet due to that, then you will not be charged for the appointment.

What can I expect from our first session?

Our first in-person meeting will be the intake process. After our consultation call and setting up the initial appointment, I will share an intake packet with you through an encrypted, electronic health record services. Prior to our first appointment, I will have you fully complete the intake paperwork delivered to you through an email address you provide. This meeting will be different than a traditional therapy session. By reviewing the intake form together, I will get a chance to hear more about your history and background, as well as, goals you would like to address in therapy. During this session, it is an opportunity for you to get to know me and for me to answer any questions you have. By the end of the session, we can discuss if it feels like the right fit to move forward with the therapy process. Please note that this first session is not complimentary; it is a fully paid session. However, I do offer a complimentary 20-minute consult call to connect prior to meeting in-person and I recommend you book this first.
